On July 1, the RCMP received a call reporting a collision between two boats in Shediac Bay.

The subsequent investigation revealed that the boat responsible for the collision had failed to remain on the scene. Investigators later located the boat at the wharf in Grand-Barachois, as it was docking. The operator was arrested for impaired operation of a boat.

The operator, a 32-year-old man, was subsequently released and is scheduled to appear in court in October. No one was injured in the collision.

The RCMP would like to remind boaters and motorists alike that operating any vehicle under the influence of alcohol can result in impaired driving charges, and even worse, lead to serious injuries or fatalities.
