A Bertrand, N.B., man has been charged with arson following an investigation by the Caraquet RCMP.

According to police, Sunday at approximately 1:15 p.m., members of the RCMP responded to a fire on Pinet Street, in Bertrand. When police officers arrived on the scene, the residence was engulfed in flames. The structure was completely destroyed by the fire and damages are estimated at several thousand dollars. The investigation determined that the fire was suspicious.

Police said, Monday, members of the Caraquet RCMP Detachment arrested 31-year-old Jean-François Landry, from Bertrand. On September 1, Landry was charged with arson in Caraquet Provincial Court.

He returned to court on September 2, in Bathurst Provincial Court, and was ordered to undergo a psychiatric assessment before going back to Caraquet Provincial Court for a bail hearing, which has been scheduled for late September.

 

À la suite d’une enquête du Détachement de Caraquet de la GRC, un homme de Bertrand a été accusé d’incendie criminel.

Salon la police, Dimanche, vers 13 h 15, des membres de la GRC se sont rendus sur les lieux d'un incendie survenu sur la rue Pinet, à Bertrand. À l’arrivée des policiers, une résidence était la proie des flammes. L'enquête a établi que l’incendie était d’origine suspecte. La structure a été complètement détruite et les dommages sont évalués à plusieurs milliers de dollars.

Salon la police, Lundi, le Détachement de Caraquet de la GRC a arrêté Jean-François Landry, 31 ans, de Bertrand. Le 1er septembre, en cour provinciale à Caraquet, M. Landry a été accusé d’incendie criminel.

Le 2 septembre, il a comparu de nouveau en cour provinciale à Bathurst et on lui a ordonné de se soumettre à une évaluation psychiatrique avant sa prochaine comparution. Le 25 septembre 2015, il comparaîtra en cour provinciale à Caraquet pour son enquête sur le cautionnement.
