Former Bangor High School and Bangor Legion standout shortstop Kyle Stevenson has put his college baseball career at UMaine on hold after undergoing hip surgery last Friday.

Stevenson had hip impingement surgery in Boston on his right hip and will need surgery on his left hip next. That could happen as soon as November.

A four year starter at shortstop for the Rams, Stevenson was a major part of Bangor's three straight Class A state titles and two state titles plus a runner up spot in American Legion baseball for the Coffee News Comrades.

He was a recruited walk-on for the UMaine team and had just started his freshman year on campus.

Stevenson's recovery and rehab time is uncertain at this point.
