Bangor Rams standout pitcher/first baseman Trevor DeLaite completed a brilliant high school career by winning the Dr. John Winkin Mr. Baseball Award.

The award goes to the top senior player each year. DeLaite was one of nine finalists.

It was a clean sweep of post season awards for DeLaite - Gatorade Player of the Year, KVAC Player of the Year, a third consecutive Class A state title and now the Mr. Baseball honor.

DeLaite's numbers for the season and for his high school career are staggering. A 9-1 senior season record (24-2 career record). A 0.30 ERA in 68 innings this spring. He capped the year with a three hit shutout of Falmouth in the state title game.

DeLaite will play at UMaine next year.

He is the second Bangor player to win the Mr. Baseball Award. Matt Kinney (now Hermon HS coach) won it in 1995. He was drafted by the Boston Red Sox and signed a pro contract shortly after winning the honor.
