A 32-year-old Bangor man was sentenced to 27 months in prison and three years of supervised release for distributing fentanyl.

John Oliveira was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court by Judge John A. Woodcock, Jr. He pleaded guilty to the charges on April 17, 2017.

According to court records, Oliveira sold fentanyl to a witness working with law enforcement, and said he was the “the best” at selling drugs, he did not “normally have [buyers] waiting too long,” and his buyers “always know what quality is going to be.”

The judge said Oliveira had a “horrible criminal history” and his drug dealing was “every parent’s worst nightmare.”

The MDEA and the Maine Attorneys General’s Office conducted the investigation. The case was prosecuted as part of the Department of Justice’s Strategy to Combat the Opioid Epidemic.
