Days After Comic-Con Confusion, United Says Comic Books Are Not a Flight Hazard
United just can’t catch a break these days. Between the awkwardness of #LeggingsGate and that passenger who got literally dragged from the plane by TSA agents, you’d think the airline would learn to tread softly in the following months, especially during an event as stressful and crazy as Comic Con. But passengers heading back from the convention on Sunday who had spent the event loading up on pristine first editions and omnibuses of their favorite comics were dismayed when a message popped up on TV screens at the United check-in line: “Remove all books from checked bags.”
‘Close Encounters of the Third Kind’ 4K Re-Release Trailer: Those Five Musical Notes Will Still Make You Tear Up
Close Encounters of the Third Kind will forever be one of sci-fi cinema’s most lasting cultural touchstones. One of Spielberg’s best, it’s a beautiful tale of wonder, obsession, and humanity’s relationship with the rest of the cosmos. It’s the kind of movie that posits that, rather than conquer us, all aliens really want to do is be our friends, and it’s coming back to theaters this September in a gorgeous 4K re-release.
‘The Dark Tower’ Weighs in at a Lean 95 Minutes
With movies seemingly getting longer by the second after Michael Bay and his ilk ushered in a new and exhausting runtime era, lights in the bloated darkness can come from the most unexpected of places. The Dark Tower, for example, is only 95 minutes long — for those of you who, like me, don’t understand what that means unless it’s in hours, that equates to an hour and 35 minutes. Which is less than two hours!
‘The Incredibles 2’ Begins Moments After the Original Ends (Yes, With the Underminer)
The Incredibles 2 is coming, finally, after thirteen long, arduous years of waiting, and while we don’t know much about the actual plot, we do know that it’ll start right where the first movie left off. If you recall, after the Parr family defeats angsty supervillain Syndrome and his marauding Omnidroid, they have a few months of normalcy before another baddie enters the fray. The Underminer, voiced by Jon Ratzenberger, explodes out of the ground at the controls of a massive drilling machine, and the final shot of the movie is the Parrs tensing up for a fight.
Apparently Americans Aren’t Interested Enough for Hasbro to Sell Us the Rey Token for ‘Star Wars’ Monopoly
The toy controversies just never stop, do they? With #WheresRey and the Black Widow and Gamora controversies only just behind us, it seems like toy companies would have gotten the hint by now. But Hasbro’s Star Wars Monopoly game unveiled after The Force Awakens opened still hasn’t fixed their Rey problem. Well, they’ve fixed it overseas, but apparently Americans just aren’t interested enough.

‘Wonder Woman,’ Unsurprisingly, Is Now the Highest-Grossing DCEU Movie
We all knew Wonder Woman was going to be a box office hit — passing $1 million in its opening weekend, becoming the highest-grossing female-directed live-action film ever made shortly after that — and how it’s shattered a new record. Wonder Woman is now the highest-grossing movie of the DC Extended Universe, passing Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman in box office sales.
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Time-Traveling Android Is Back in the ‘Terminator 2’ 3-D Re-Release Trailer
It’s a rare thing in Hollywood for a sequel to come close to, or even end up being better than, the original, but James Cameron effortlessly managed that feat with 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgement Day. The film sees Arnold Schwarzenegger return as the sinister Terminator android, but this time around his intentions are much more heroic. If you’ve been itching to watch this movie on the big screen in as immersive an experience as possible, Cameron and co. have cooked up a re-release of the movie in his new favorite medium: 3-D.
