A$AP Rocky is expanding his acting portfolio with a new role in a major film. The New York rhymer will star in the John Legend-produced movie called Monster.

Along with Rocky, Roots actor Kelvin Harrison Jr. is also part of the cast along with Oscar-winning star Jennifer Hudson and fellow rapper Nas.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Monster tells the story of Steve (Harrison), a 17-year-old honors student and aspiring filmmaker in Harlem who is being charged with felony murder, a crime which he says he didn't commit.

Famed video director Anthony Mandler, who has helmed plenty of visuals for Rihanna, Drake, Taylor Swift and others, will make his directorial debut with the crime thriller. Bron Studios along with Tonik Productions and John Legend's Get Lifted Film Co. have teamed up to produced the feature.

Nas and Legend will also executive produce the film, and will also work together to develop original music for the project.
