Aroostook County Grand Jury Indictments For July 2014

The Aroostook County Grand Jury has indicted a Presque Isle man on 29 counts, including Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, Indecent Conduct, and Attempted Sex Abuse of a Minor.  

In February, Aroostook County Sheriff’s Deputies opened a criminal investigation into 22-year-old Andrew Legassie following complaints to school staff and parents from area high school students. The complaints alleged that Legassie was sending sexually explicit images of himself to underage female students via social media. Legassie at that time was a basketball referee at school games throughout Aroostook County.  After the Sheriff’s Office publicized the initial arrest of Legassie, several young women came forward saying they had been victimized.

The Grand Jury handed up 60 indictments against 55 individuals in its third session of 2014, according to District Attorney Todd Collins.  Among those indicted was 38-year-old Jessie Marquis of St. Francis for the May 31 murder of Amy Theriault.
