The driver of an antique car that crashed into a utility pole during the Maine Potato Blossom Festival in Fort Fairfield may faces charges.

Fort Fairfield Police Chief Shawn Newell says 54-year-old Norman Soucy was operating a vintage and fully restored 1947 Dodge and was entering the intersection of Presque Isle and Main when he struck a utility pole Friday afternoon. Newell says Soucy was leaving the parking lot at Norm's Used Auto and appears to have accelerated quickly.

The Woodland resident was thrown from the Dodge. Witnesses watched over him until Fort Fairfield Fire and Police and Crown Ambulance arrived a short time later. Soucy was treated for minor injuries.

Chief Newell says Soucy faces charges for reckless driving and speed.

The classic car was severely damaged.
