Actors might be front and center on magazines and billboards, but when it comes to the arena of sexism and gender disparity, they're better off fading away into the background, Anna Kendrick says.

The Trolls star explains in a new interview with Glamour that she thinks it's strange that actors have become such authorities on conversations about feminism and women's rights. And she adds that she's reticent to sound off on such issues lately because it might seem patronizing to people who grapple with much more hardship than she and her fellow A-listers do.

“It shouldn’t be the most important conversation about sexism — because no one really wants to f------ hear actors talk about this, because we’re in such positions of privilege,” she said. “I would love to hear more about sexism that exists in other fields and how we can address that – but we keep getting asked about it."

Further, Kendrick says people in the limelight should always be on a quest to learn, and that it's much more important to listen than constantly speak in the declarative.

"Why would anybody want my ‘expert opinion’ on any of these topics?" she said. "If you want to learn about intersectional feminism, read Roxanne Gay, don’t ask me, you know? I’m being asked to speak on these things when I’m trying to learn about them myself."
