It's sad to see so many once occupied buildings and homes abandoned across the state, but photographers on Instagram have captured the beauty that's left behind.

Everything from mills to farms lay in ruins in every part of Maine. These abandoned places are mostly grown up and forgotten. Others have captured the curiosity of passersby who wonder what happened? Where did the occupants go? Why did they go?
