Babb's Bridge on the Presumpscot River in Windham is Maine's oldest covered bridge. The exact year it was built remains a mystery. Some say it was built in 1843. other believe it wasn't built until 1864.

In 1973 the original bridge was destroyed by fire, it was rebuilt in 1976 using lumber from Maine and techniques that may have been used during construction of the original bridge. According to Wikipedia, in 2014 holes were cut in the roof by vandals to allow people to jump into the river below. Last year the bridge underwent a $160,000 renovation project to repair those holes while maintaining the original design of Maine's oldest covered bridge..
