Climbing Mars Hill Mountain! [PHOTOS]
We had to fix the blinking red bulb on the top of our tower at Mars Hill Mountain this weekend, and the views from the top were great!
About once per year, we have a professional radio tower climber climb our radio tower and do some routine maintenance, so we can keep the station on the air. We needed to replace our flashing red beacon, and make sure our de-icers were working before winter sets in!
My morning started by getting my silver, 2004 front wheel drive Honda Civic (which I lovingly refer to as my plastic roller skate mobile) stuck in a snowbank at the bottom of the mountain. Towing was involved. Pictures were not.
About two hours after the snowbank incident, I finally arrived at the top of the mountain, where our engineers were hard at work. Our tower is right in the middle of the wind farm at the top of the mountain, and the views into New Brunswick, down to southern Aroostook County, and of the wind farm itself, were very cool.
