I know people say that dogs are humans too, however, when it comes to what they eat, what we eat isn't a good idea for your pet. You should stay away from these foods.

You might say, "Yeah, but it's Thanksgiving!" Well, it really matters not what day it is. According to the pet experts, there are certain foods that you should not feed your dog as it can be very harmful to them.

Here are 5 foods that you should refrain from feeding your dog.

  1. Turkey Skin - You might be trying to stay healthy by pealing off the skin from your turkey, but don't feed it to your dog. Fatty skin is very difficult for your dog to digest and, in some instances, could lead to nasty pancreatitis.
  2. Alcohol - When you were a teenager, or maybe in college, you might have had that one friend that thought it was funny to get the dog drunk. Well, not only is it not funny, but the hops they put in the beer can be extremely toxic to your dog. NOTE - This also includes getting your dog high too.
  3. Cooked Bones - Notice we didn't say raw bones? The big issues with cooked bones are that they can splinter, thus causing intestinal problems in your dog. So, please don't give your dogs the bones of the turkey after he's been cooked.
  4. Nuts - You'd be nuts to feed your dog nuts at Thanksgiving. Or any other time, for that matter. According to ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), a dog can experience tremors and even vomiting shortly after consumption.
  5. Chocolate - No matter how bad your dogs' breath is, he doesn't need an after dinner chocolate breath mint. If you like the smell of your dogs' smelly farts and her stinking up the place, especially when you have guests over, then chocolate would be one way to accomplish that. However, sugar, cookie dough, and such like, are not good for your dogs.

Thanksgiving is a great time to spend visiting and eating with friends and family. If you want to include your dog in the festivities, that's fine. Just make sure you buy proper doggie treats that are good for them and won't harm them.

The best way to spoil the holidays is having a sick dog or a dead dog because we gave them something that caused them harm.

Have a great Thanksgiving!
