2016 Soul Train Awards Winners

The Soul Train Awards are one of the premier awards shows recognizing talents in the worlds of R&B, Soul, and of course, hip-hop. The 2016 awards show airs tonight (Nov. 27) and some of the biggest rappers the game has to offer will be making their presence felt as the star-studded event begins unfolding on Centric and BET at 8 p.m ET.

As is usually the case with everything related to quantifiable success in the rap world, Drake is leading the field. The Views artist continues his annual award show dominance by being nominated for a whopping 12 categories, including Video of the Year ("Hotline Bling," "Work," Rihanna feat. Drake) and Album/Mixtape of the year (Views).

Among those also representing the world of hip-hop are Kanye West, DJ Khaled, The Weeknd, Bryson Tiller, Fat Joe and Remy Ma (Rhythm & Bars Award, "All the Way Up" feat. French Montana and Infrared) and the great Chance The Rapper (Best New Artist). Yeezy is up for Video of the Year ("Fade"), Album/Mixtape of the Year (The Life of Pablo) and Dance Performance of the Year ( "Fade," Dance Performance feat. Teyana, Taylor). The always-entertaining Khaled is up for Album/Mixtape of the Year (Major Key), Best Collaboration and the Rhythm and Bars Award, the latter two nominations being for his Drake collaboration, "For Free." Bryson Tiller will duke it out with The Weeknd for Best R&B/Soul Male Artist, and Tiller's "Don't" has been nominated for song of the year.

Ultimately, Fat Joe and Remy Ma, Kanye West and Teyana Taylor, Anderson .Paak and Chance The Rapper ended up being hip-hop's big winner at this year's Soul Train Awards. Joey Crack and Remy's "All the Way Up" earned them trophies for the Rhymthm & Bars Award and Best Collaboration. .Paak won the trophy for the Centric Certified Award, while Kanye earned the trophy for "Fade," a video which featured an electrifying dance routine from Taylor. Chance further solidified 2016 as his true coming out party by taking home the Soul Train trophy for Best New Artist.
