2013 Northern Star Winners!
The 2013 Northern Star Finale was held yesterday afternoon at the Caribou Performing Arts Center. Northern Star is a regional singing competition that brings together the best of the best from Northern Maine and Western New Brunswick, hosted by United Way of Aroostook. There were two categories this year: Solo and Group.
Northern Star Regional Solo Finalists were as follows:
26 year old Cory Stanley – Finalist #1 from Fort Kent. He sang “Off My Rocker” by Billy Currington.
15 year old Amira Abouleish – Finalist # 2 from Houlton. She sang “Turning Tables” by Adele.
26 year old Megan Ouellette – Finalist # 3 from Van Buren. She sang “Anyway” by Martina McBride.
13 year old Emily Martin – Finalist # 4 from Fort Kent. She sang “Titanium” by David Guetta.
27 year old Allyson Plummer – Finalist # 5 from Washburn. She sang “Oh Darling” by The Beatles.
19 year old Brandon Clark – Finalist # 6 from Houlton. He sang “Feeling Good” by Michael Buble.
15 year old Haven Rhoda – Finalist # 7 from Houlton. She sang “California Kin” by Rihanna.
16 year old Keegan Fitzpatrick – Finalist # 8 from Houlton. He sang “You Raise Me Up” by Josh Groban.
23 year old Krystal Turton – Finalist # 9 from Fort Kent. She sang “Stay” by Sugarland.
27 year old Heather Rose – Finalist # 10 from Caribou. She sang “Halo” by Beyonce.
Northern Star United Regional Group Finalists were:
Group # 1 - 13 year old Alex LeMieux and 14 year old Anabelle LeMieux from St. Joseph de Madawaska, New Brunswick. They sang “Little Things” by One Direction.
Group # 2 - 24 year old Dan Rooney and 27 year old Josh Doughty from Presque Isle. They sang an original song called “Take Me Back” by Rooney and the Revolvers.
Group # 3 – 16 year old Stevie Shaeffer, 16 year old Keegan Fitzpatrick and 15 year old Jackie Condon all of Houlton performed “Just the Way You Are” by Bruno Mars.
Winners of this year’s Northern Star Competition were:
Solo Winner: Brandon Clark. He is only the second male winner in 9 years! And also, the ONLY winner thus far from Southern Aroostook County.
Group Winners: Dan Rooney and Josh Doughty of Presque Isle!
